Dr. Daniel Lo Ting-cheung*, (PhD in Composition) at the University of York, UK, published an article 樹的聯想 in Ta Kung Pao. He is so creative to introduce contemporary composers and their works, by trees.

In the article, Dr. Lo mentions Krzysztof Penderecki (1933- )#, Toru Takemitsu (1930-1996) and John Williams (1932- ). In the Music Library, you can find

Threnody: To the Victims of Hiroshima by Krzysztof Penderecki

Tree Line : For Chamber Orchestra by Toru Takemitsu

WILLIAMS, J.: Bassoon Concerto, "The Five Sacred Trees" / TAKEMITSU,

Toru: Tree Line (LeClair, London Symphony, J. Williams) via Naxos

After reading Dr. Lo’s article, you may want to see the music and listen to the music!!

*Dr. Lo studied composition with Professor Chan Hing-yan at The University of Hong Kong where he graduated with first class honours in 2009 and then completed an MPhil (Music Composition) in 2012.

#Krzysztof Penderecki was appointed as 2015 Rayson Huang Fellow at HKU.
