Jointly organized by the Knowledge Exchange Office and the Libraries at the University of Hong Kong, as well as iesResearch, “Enhance your research impact – From planning to outreach” provides you with expert advice and real-life examples on how to enhance and showcase your research impact beyond the academia.

Enhance your research impact – From planning to outreach

1. Enhance research impact from planning to post-publication

This session will highlight the importance of research impact—socially and academically—and explain why it matters to funders, universities, and researchers. 

We will guide researchers on maximizing impact through key stages: 

  • Authoring: Focus on crafting research that addresses social relevance and multidisciplinary topics. 
  • Publishing: Select impactful platforms, like open access, to boost visibility. 
  • Outreaching: Leverage outreach methods such as social media, collaborations, and international networks to broaden research influence. 

In conclusion, we will emphasize the role of case studies in showcasing impact, offering practical strategies for enhancing societal and academic contributions.

2. Experience sharing by HKU researchers 

The speakers will share their experiences and tips on enhancing research impact from planning to outreach.

  • How to identify and develop impact from research   
  • Search beyond academic impact 
  • Prepare evidence for the claim made

3. Panel discussion

The speakers will have an open discussion with researchers to develop best practices.
