Research Consultation (HKU academic staff and postgraduate students only)
HKU DataHub is the institutional data repository for hosting research data, other forms of scholarly outputs, and educational resources produced by HKU researchers, students, staff and their collaborators. HKU DataHub powered by Figshare is a cloud platform for storing, citing, sharing, and discovering research data and all scholarly outputs.
The FAIR data principles is a set of guidelines that help researchers make better use of, and engage with a broader audience with, their research data. First introduced in 2016 (Wilkinson et al.), the principles aim to improve discoverability, accessibility and reusability of the data to be shared openly, making them more valuable and maximizing their use, re-use and impact. The principles have since been widely accepted and adopted by academic communities and research institutions worldwide.
FAIR stands for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Data that meet these principles are more discoverable and reusable, which in turn increase your research’s exposure. DataHub fully supports the FAIR data principles, allowing researchers to share and publish their data FAIR.

A growing number of funding agencies, especially overseas funders, impose policies for research data management and sharing. For instance:
Many journals have data sharing policies that require datasets which are necessary to replicate their study’s findings must be made available to editors and referees at the time of manuscript submission, and some are requiring the data to be shared with the scientific community as a condition of publication. Several journals also require data availability statements to be included in publications. For example:
HKU DataHub supports issuance of Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) to each dataset record, enables sharing via private links for confidential peer-review and fulfills the FAIR data principle after publication. Depositing research data and records on the repository enables HKU researchers to comply with the requirements of the funder of their research and journals that their work were submitted to.

Sharing your work with flexible access options
Building your portfolio
Collaborating with others
Showcasing deliverables of your research projects and educational resources
Complying to open practices in scientific research
Before depositing your dataset in the HKU DataHub, please read carefully and accept the terms and conditions stated in the Depositor's Agreement.
