Adding Items

There are four different ways to add items:

Option 1

Drag the PDF file from the desktop to the Zotero Library.

Option 2

Save the online source with one click using Zotero Connector. 

Follow these steps:

Step 1. Ensure the desktop Zotero is running, and click on the Zotero Connector on your browser.

Step 2. Wait until you see the item saved to the Library.

 

Option 3

Manually add an item by typing the information for different types of items or entering ISBN, DOIs, etc., with the functional icons. Follow these steps:

Step 1. Check out the top of the middle panel. You will find different functional icons.

Step 2. Check out all tabs and functions.

Step 3. Click on the "New Item" icon to add an item, choose the reference type, e.g. "Book", and manually input other information, e.g. item name, author.

Step 4. Click on the "Add Item(s) by Identifier" icon to add an item by entering its ISBN, DOI, PMID, arXiv ID, or ADS Bibcodes.

     

 

Option 4

Export references as RIS. file and open in Zotero. Follow these steps:

Step 1. Tick the square to select the desired item(s) in Find@HKUL.

Step 2. Click on the [...] next to the "Pin" icon.

Step 3. Click on "EndNote Desktop".

Step 4. Click on "Download".

Step 5. Right-click the downloaded RIS.file and select "Open with Zotero".

Step 6. Click "OK".

Note: Most academic databases allow exporting references as RIS. file, such as ProQuest, Scopus, and Web of Science.
