The Law Guide: Law: Casual Reading

Introduction to Law: Casual Reading

'In the pursuit of legal success it is not enough to simply know the law, but to understand the wider context in which it is applied' - Joseph Marler, Assistant Officer - Law Library

To achieve this, we encourage our patrons to consider the benefits of reading wider legal texts and that which is beyond the law. The Hon. Andrew Li, the former Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, among many other successes and accolades is the source of inspiration of this here collection. When working with materials that Andrew Li donated for the use of those at HKU it had come to our attention that included were more ‘casual’ books such as the book entitled The law is a ass by Ronald Irving. Although some of these titles are more comical than others there are those that can be a great source of understanding and inspiration. Thus, going to show the necessity of this more ‘casual’ genre of reading, even if it is just to make you readings in law a little more fun.

Where to find our collection
