Simple Search
1. Select the Find@HKUL (yellow magnifier) icon
2. Tap on the search box
3. Input the search term
4. Select the scopes, such as Books & Article+, Books+, Articles+, Beyond HKU (HKALL + Interlibrary Loan)
5. Tap on the Search icon
6. Look for the results
Refine Results
1. Tap on the filter icon
2. Sort by Relevance, Newest, Oldest, Author, or Title
3. Refine the results by facets, e.g., resource type, year, subject, author, collection, journal title, language, or library
4. Include the entries under a facet
5. Exclude the entries under a facet
6. Tap on Apply Filters

1. Tap on the More Settings (horizontal three dots) icon
2. Select Advance Search
3. Search the information under the Advance Search mode

HKU Library Search Assistant
HKU Library Search Assistant is a plugin to search HKU Libraries Catalogue and other popular databases within your browser and access HKUL subscribed resources from a publisher website.

• When accessing a resource from a publisher's website, click on the browser extension • Click on • This will trigger the HKUL authentication page for login. |
Method 1: • Select the text and right-click • Select Search with HKU Search Assistant • Choose the search platforms in HKU Catalogue, WoS, Google Scholar, PubMed or WorldCat
Method 2: • Click HKUL Search Assistant icon • Input the search term • Search in HKU Libraries Catalogue and other popular search engines without leaving your current page • Click Search |
Reload via HKUL is a bookmarklet to facilitate access to HKUL subscribed resources from a publisher website.
For desktop: Safari
• Install the bookmarklet on your web browser. Drag this button up to your bookmarks toolbar (or right-click to save it to your favorites toolbar).
• A new button appears in your toolbar, like this:
• When accessing a resource from a publisher's website, click on the Reload via HKUL bookmarklet in your toolbar. You will be prompted to authenticate with your HKU Portal/ library account.
For gadgets: iPad and iPhone
• Install the bookmarklet on your iPad and iPhone
• Copy the following bookmarklet code of Reload via HKUL to your iPad and iPhone:
