ReadingList@HKUL for instructors

ReadingList@HKUL allows course instructors to create an interactive list of citations from a range of sources such as books, ebooks, YouTube, Streaming Video and Websites that can be shared with students who enrolled in a Moodle course. The list can also be viewed by library staff to put materials on reserve so that instructors no longer need to fill out the course reserve materials form.

Managing Reading List

  • Clear organization by dividing the reading list into sections(e.g. by semester, weeks, topics...)
  • The list can be edited by multiple instructors and tutors who teach the same course
  • Update content easily at any stage of the semester
  • Reuse citations or duplicate whole lists for other courses
  • Receive notification of changes/updates of the reading list by email (set in user settings)
  • Search function available
  • Export the reading list to a variety of formats, e.g. Word, PDF, Excel, RIS file, Endnote, lgn file

Adding materials

  • Add library inventory into the reading list easily (with item status and links)
  • Create interactive lists of citations from a range of sources such as YouTube, Streaming Video and  Websites using the “Cite It” toolbar widget
  • Upload own items by drag and drop, providing both online and local file for download

Interacting with students

  • Allows students to recommend resources and post comments in the reading list
  • Monitor student engagement with course resources through system analytics
